Sosin Symposium Man speaking

The Sosin Education Symposium was held on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at the Inn of St. Johns in Plymouth, MI. Everyone enjoyed a great meal, followed by MGA’s Annual Meeting, the awards presentation and guest speaker, Wayne T. Cornblath, MD, Professor, Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences and Neurology, University of Michigan.

There were two Sosin Award winners this year. Kathryn Chrzanowski is the mother of a young adult woman who struggles with myasthenia gravis. Kathryn has taken the lead in gathering information about myasthenia gravis and notifying MGA when new information is available. Kathryn participates in MGA events including the Golf Classic, always bringing a foursome. She maintains her membership in MGA, is generous in donating to the Association, and encourages others to donate as well through their company’s programs. Kay Connelly has been very active in the Ann Arbor Support Group, assisting Dick Giba in that responsibility. In addition, Kay, along with her husband, Dr. William Chamness, gave an exceptional presentation on “Diet is a Four Letter Word” to the MGA membership at the annual Sosin Luncheon in 2017. Kay is always willing to support MGA by being one of the first to donate to fundraisers when requested. She has experienced many health challenges over and above her myasthenia gravis, however, she is always willing to assist MGA whenever possible. Both are very deserving of the award for their continued support of the Myasthenia Gravis Association.

Congratulations to our 2019 award winners!
