Education Symposium named in honor of Jean Sosin, Co-Founder of MGA

Jean Sosin was one of the founding members of the Myasthenia Gravis Association. She was diagnosed with MG as a young woman at a time when there was no support, only a diagnosis from a physician. No one knew what the disease was or how to manage it. Jean was part of a group of women, including Janet Gooding and Mary Roberson Harper, who were responsible for initiating an effort to do more. Mary began holding afternoon teas in her home, and from there MGA was born. MGA incorporated as a non-profit, applied for and received its 501(c)3 status from the federal government and is licensed by the State of Michigan.

We are happy to say that Jean lived to be over 90 years old. MGA is very grateful
that Jean’s family continues to support the agency by helping to sponsor this
significant event.
