The Myasthenia Gravis Association honors the passing of individuals associated with our organization, or who have made significant contributions in the field.
If you would like to report a bereavement, please let us know by emailing email@example.com. It is our sincere desire to pay respect to those who made a difference in our community. If we missed anyone, we apologize.
We regret to announce the following individuals who have passed away:
RODNEY (ROD) M. BROWN
The Myasthenia Gravis Association (MGA) – Detroit/Eastern Michigan has lost a great friend, past President of the Board of Directors, golf chairman, volunteer and a man well loved by all who met him and had the pleasure of working with him.
Rod was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis (MG) over 16 years ago. He had his thymus gland removed and follow-up radiation treatments for the thymoma that was found. He recovered fully and his MG went into remission.
Rod passed away suddenly on Oct. 11, 2018, of a massive heart attack. Rod was the youngest son of Helen and Fred Brown, husband of Vicki Brown and dad to their six children, three boys and three girls, that made up their blended family.
His parents, Fred and Helen Brown, continued to volunteer for MGA following Rod’s busy career of part-owner of the Shirt Box store in Farmington Hills and as a practicing attorney.
We send our condolences to his mother, Helen, his wife Vicki and his children, and his brothers, Martin and Steven. Fred Brown, Rod’s dad, passed away almost 18 month ago.
The MGA Board of Directors has initiated the Rodney M. Brown Fund at MGA. The fund will support services/programs for persons struggling with the neuromuscular disease, myasthenia gravis.
The MGA Board of Directors has also initiated a name change for the MGA Golf Classic. The new name will be: The Rodney M. Brown Memorial Golf Classic.
Thank you Rod for being part of the MGA family of services, volunteers and friends. We will miss you greatly!
Sympathies to the family of Janet Adelson who passed away July 7, 2018. Janet was a long-standing member of the Myasthenia Gravis Association.
